Years ago friends of ours made sandwiches over an outdoor fire with cast iron sandwich molds. They were delicious and it was a lot of fun loading them up with the ingredients everybody wanted and waiting for them to cook.

I’ve never seen them since. Has anyone here used them?

first time i’ve ever heard of them Taggart… sounds like fun though…. wonder if they can be had on the internet… will go look around!

Oh My mom had one and the sandwiches made from them were so deliciuos….yes…I would like to have one of those too..for myself…good that you reminded….

I’ve never seen one of these gadgets, but it sounds like something you might find on Ebay.

I bet there are people who have inherited them and have no clue what they are used for!

My mom always used to ask me to make sandwiches in that…and I especially liked the shape of the sanwiches…like two convex breads pasted to each other…

I guess that you could improvise with aluminum foil, unless there was concern about the health effects of cooking with it.

Maybe you could use a metal pie plate over the coals to try to get a similar style of sandwich?

I really have to try to find the molds in the stores.

I’ve heard about health concerns associated with cooking with aluminum pans and possibly foil.

I don’t know if it’s been actually proven, but I’ve heard that cooking with aluminum may cause Alzheimer’s disease.

ooops well it’s too late for me then… my favourite saucepan is aluminium… and i use foil a lot as well…

I use foil so many times….does it have to do with cooking in foils only or even wrapping food in aluminium foil is dangerous….I havn’t heard of it yet though.
