What Kind Do You Take?

When you attend a BYOB event, what is your favorite kind of meat to take?  Or do
you prefer a variety?  For me, I’d much rather have a burger than a steak.

WE usually take chicken or salmon, depending on who’s throwing the party.

We do this because we don’t eat beef and, if we aren’t careful, won’t have a main dish for ourselves!

There’s nothing worse than being at a party and not being able to eat anything that hosts have provided.

I like chicken, too… not real fond of salmon.  The problem I have with chicken on the
grill is finding out it’s not cooked all the way through…. do you ever start it cooking before
it hits the grill just to make sure?  I’ve done that many times.

I usually prepare some boneless chicken breasts for those BYO occasions. I marinate them the night before and, since they are boneless, then tend to cook all the way through , easier.

Nothing worse than finding your chicken still raw!

Oh, I *so* agree!  And often you don’t know it until you’ve already eaten some and
then see that pink near the bone.  Ick!

The last few times I brought my own meat, I took steak. I think it was probably because that was kind of the “theme” of the BBQ, so I went with the flow.

I do like more casual food like burgers and dogs as well.

I like the taste of steak made on the grill, but I’ve found that I’m not really patient enough
to wait for a steak to get finished so I stick with things that won’t take quite as long. grin
