Beer Can Poultry?

A friend of mine makes Beer Can Chicken on the BBQ. I assume that you could also do a version of it over a fire.

He opens a can of beer and places it in the chicken. I think it remains upright, and the beer boils up and flavours the bird from the inside. I’m not sure about the technical details of the recipe, but I can tell you that it makes a great tasting chicken.

I think he may also have used it for turkey, too.

Have you ever had this?

He must have used a 40 oz. on the turkey.  Jeeeeez….

I’ve never had it, but I’ve heard of the technique being done.  I’m not sure if I’d like it or not,
but it certainly always sounded interesting to say the least.

Beer can chicken is a myth.  Although the beer can is useful in keeping the bird vertical, the beer adds nothing to the cooking of the bird.

As great as BBQ, it’s not worth wasting good beer.
